Browser Compatibility TestingThis site has been written to work fully in standards-compliant browsers. However, we check that it also works adequately in IE6, 7 and 8 on Windows. If you have problems viewing the pages, we suggest you upgrade to any current browser except Internet Explorer. HTML script is used for the menus. There is no Flash or Java. We particularly recommend Firefox and Opera, while Google Chrome seems quite nice if you are still using Windows. We design for a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher, although most if not all pages will work at 800x600. We expect a colour range of at least 65565 colours (16 bit, highcolor).
These pages have been checked using as many browsers as we can find.
On Linux we tested with
We don't have a Mac or a Vista machine, and don't expect to use Windows 7, so any feedback would be appreciated. However, we have occasionally borrowed Vista and Windows 7 boxes, and have not noticed any problems. Some older browsers, particularly IE6 and AOL6, have problems with the menu after resizing the window. Just reload the page and it should be ok. The menu system is intended to work with any browser which supports css. It includes various lines to make IE5 and early Safari work, which are not compliant with CSS2.1. For this reason we have removed the 'css valid' graphic. Non-css enabled browsers should see a basic menu instead or the pull-down menu at the top of each page. |
